Personality & Traits

General Overview Intelligent, dedicated. Slow to make friends but fiercely loyal.
Strengths & Weaknesses Genetically modified - nearly immune to radiation and mutagenic effects (including viruses) with a strong healing factor. Her lifespan is literally a mystery as her previous clone siblings all died of natural causes but none had obvious signs of aging.
A bit agoraphobic and can be obsessive when on a new project.
Ambitions Feels a debt to the Federation for rescuing her and her sisters and would like to pay it back. Wants to explore places unmodified humans can't visit safely.
Hobbies & Interests Music (singing, guitar, electric vulcan lyre, traditional vulcan lyre)
Running
Collecting old (classic!) scientific instruments, preferably used

Personal History Felicity was never intended for colonization, but the unique radiation signatures and novel ecosystem made it a fruitful place to do science. A research team of 12 and the crew of a ship went to investigate the area, particularly the fifth planet. Disaster struck when a supernova in that quadrant took out their ship and a lack of resources made an extensive journey to find the remains of the mission an unreasonable expense. Like many missions that marked the major growth periods of the Federation, some would vanish, never to be heard from again. To all evidence, this was another lost expedition.

But there were, indeed, survivors.

The special shielding used by the research team on the planet protected them from the brunt of the supernova’s radiation but they had lost all ability to contact the Federation especially through the subspace interference that was rampant around the system. So they did the best they could with what they had. They boosted the shielding to the limits of their resources but due to a lack of critical materials, they couldn’t expand the area protected. Even worse, the protection wasn’t perfect, so radiation was slowly killing the researchers.

Working feverishly, they managed to hack together a potential protection using the genes of the local wildlife that had evolved to resist the radiation but only one of the original expedition, Dr. Fitzgerald, had a DNA structure that was compatible enough to accept the splicing. From that point onward, the ‘colony’ consisted of -- at most due to space/resource constraints -- six modified clones of Fitzgerald with only minor phenotypical variations (hair/eye/skin color).

When they were rescued, seventy years after the supernova, Alia had four older ‘sisters’ of various ages from sixty to twenty-six (she was sixteen at the time). All had a bent for science of one sort or another and, perhaps surprisingly, had carried on the original research of the mission. As Alia’s sister Zenna said, “There wasn’t much else to do.”

Alia entered Starfleet Academy early based on her test scores and science skills but had to do a lot of catching up on various subjects (history, etc). Dr. Katriedes's recommendation helped considerably her in addition to her own talents.

Note: Alia is mostly an Earth-normal human but the modifications done to her and her sisters make her very resistant to radiation, viruses and other mutagens (but not other pathological organisms such as bacteria or parasites). Due to her upbringing, she is uncomfortable around largish groups in general and men in particular (she’s also not keen on aliens but is working hard to overcome these weaknesses). She chose a ship posting rather than stay at Starfleet Academy for further training partially because she preferred a smaller, more controlled environment while she continues to deal with her issues, and partially due to a 'push' from her mentor at Starfleet. At this stage in her life, she doesn't have full-blown phobias because she has had counseling to 'heal' them to the level of dislikes UNLESS she gets thrown into an extreme situation.
Service Record Graduated with honors from Starfleet Academy (not with her class so no ranking available)
Co-contributor to the cure for the Katmarin Plague
Co-author of paper: Analysis of Ancient Vulcan and Ancient Romulan Musical Styles
Field decoration for bravery (details classified)
Served a year aboard the Daikyu in Operations
