Dreams of something better... And a little prejudice.

Ull knew the history of his people well. He was appalled at what they had done for so long in their past. His own family had ties back to the Orion Syndicate, though if his parents still did then it was something that he had never seen or heard about. He didn't want to be known for that. He didn't want his people to only be remembered for that. Even as a kid all he could think was that there had to be something better, there had to be something they could do to be better.

Ull dedicated himself to his studies and his family. He wanted to leave Orion and make a name for himself and his family. He helped his little brother, Russ, through school when he was struggling. He did what he could to keep his brother hanging out with good people, though because of his studies and helping his brother he never really hung out with anyone his own age. He graduated near the top of his class. He was working on classes for Engineering Security Systems when his little brother finally graduated.

He decided at that point to apply for Starfleet Academy. His application was accepted and he shipped out to the Earth campus, at his own request and because Orion did not have a satellite campus in system.

'This is exciting and scary. I had never even been off planet, and now I have traveled across the galaxy to go to school. I hope my family will be safe while I am gone. I hope I can make them proud.' Ull thought as he got ready to step into the transporter. He had been traveling on an Andorian transport on it's way back to Earth from DS9. Now that he was about to beam down to Earth it was finally hitting him at exactly what he was about to embark on. 'Is this crazy? Am I making the right choice?' Ull thought as he stared at the transporter platform.

"Either you get on that pad or I'll put you to work for wasting my time." The gruff Andorian at the transporter controls called out to him. "Can't say you wouldn't deserve it." The Andorian just glared at Ull, as though he waited for a response.

"What...?" Ull barely breathed out as someone behind him nudged him forward. He stepped instinctively to prevent himself from tripping over his own feet and right onto the pad as the lights flared for a second. Next thing he knew he was standing on a pad in the Academy.

"Whoa... You're an Orion..." A Coridanite Cadet said as he stepped back from Ull.

Ull looked at the fellow cadet and gave him a polite smile. "I am Ull Arkyn. I am here to attend Starfleet Academy."

"I don't care who you are, or what you are here for. Just stay away from me." The cadet said as he turned and quickly walked away from Ull.

'What a good start. Hopefully I made the right right choice.' Ull thought as he stepped off the pad and went to find his room in the dorms.
