Personality & Traits

General Overview Roger is a stodgy, boring man, usually, insofar as he is quiet, not prone to drama, and keeps his head low. He is caring and warm, with a good bedside manner and an ability to heal people quickly.

He is calm under pressure, but, conversely, can be panicked in simple situations (such as making breakfast for his daughters). He has trauma training, so is able to handle death and destruction in a calm, take-charge demeanor. Then, he will compartmentalize it and get the job done.

He has worked with all types of people and races, but prefers adult medicine, because, in his words-"Watching children die really sucks." As a leader, he's been noted as "calm, inspiring, and assertive but warm in the surgery room." He consideres himself hardworking and passionate about medicine

-Doodling
-Board games
-Fishing
-Talking incessantly about his family.

Personal History Roger is the oldest child and only son of his teacher parents. He was born in 2355 in Paisley, Scotland, but moved to London when he was four because his father took a Headmaster's job at a boy's school. He attended Catholic elementary and jr high schools, but went to public school for his last four years of education (high school). He is not religious, but this was his parents' wishes. He played sports in school, including baseball, had some good friends, and dated a few girls-the kind of normal childhood that he'd wanted during his younger years.

After High School, he attended London City College, and got his degree in practical medicine and Psychology. His father was strict, and wouldn't allow him to go to college if he didn't do something "worthwhile"-psychology was their compromise. When the Dominion War broke out, he was eager to spread his wings, and gain more experience. He volunteered for service, and went through the Academy, in the Medical Corps. He was quickly assigned to one of the Betazed colonies, where he gained valuable on the job training.

His first assignment was a triage hospital, where he saw many people die, and this shaped his views of medicine for the rest of his life. He looked forward to leaving the hospitals when the War ended (or rather, moved on) and travel among the stars. That is, until Starfleet posted him to his first assignment in New York, at the Manhattan Ship Yards. It ended up being a blessing-this is where he met Lucy, at a party, and it was love at first sight. They had a fast, wonderful, and passionate courtship, marrying after only 18 months at the preserved Empire State Building. A bit later, their first child was born, and then, four years ago, welcomed their second daughter.
