Mission:
A whole new world
Location: Cargo Bay - Escape Pod
Timeline: DAY 10 (after Tracking Tetayn)
SECURITY OFFICE (Deck 5) - CARGO BAY (Deck 13)
Having located the girl and confirmed her under watch of the Commander in the Mess Hall, Rayek could now move onto other Security tasks. He transferred audio from the security camera in the Mess to his earbud and then made his way to Cargo Bay where the escape pod had remained under watch in case the girl had tried to return to it.
When he arrived, he received a report from the guard on duty informing him that no one had gone near the escape pod since the pair had been beamed out.
Excellent. "Thank you. Crewman."
Rayek pulled his tricorder from his belt and did a thorough check of the escape pod, taking note of any surface or structural damage that might indicate proximity to an explosion. He also checked the hatch for any sign of trap or explosive device. The Romulan was wary that the Commander might have set something up to keep intruders out.
The tricorder detected nothing unusual so Rayek attempt to open the hatch. As suspected, the pod was locked from the inside. He had choice to make now, attempt to beam himself inside the cramped space, or use force to break open the hatch.
If the hatch was trapped, breaking in would certainly trigger it. Rayek tapped his comm badge. "tr'Lhoell to Transporter Room One. I require a site to site transport INTO the escape pod. I am uploading to you a detailed scan of the pod to generate the best coordinates for beam in." He crouched down and did his best to be in a seated position as if he were already inside the pod. "I'm ready when you are."
"Lt. Spade here sir," came back the reply over Rayek's com. "Transporting you now."
His view of the cargo bay disappeared as his molecules where torn apart, stored as an energy pattern and then sent into the escape pod to be assemble. There was no pain just a momentary disorientation as Rayek's senses took into his new cramped surroundings. The pod was very much like the one he'd awoken in a week and a half ago. As previously, Rayek was seated in the pod and there was very little space to move. He could help but wonder how the pair had managed to survive cramped into that tiny space.
First thing he did was attempt to access the pod's data nodule. If he could retrieve it and connect it to the Lionheart's computer then Elle and the Command Officers would have access to all the pod's information.
Not only were the pod's computer system poorly secured - something that Rayek was realizing would be true of all pods on the Lionheart as well, but they were also nearly two decades behind what Rayek considered as norm. These had no holographic interface or auto-recognition security feature. These were bare bones, which made his task ultimately much easier.
Within just a few minutes, Rayek had the pod's 'black box' open and downloaded onto his PADD. From the blackbox he could trace back the pod's route to where and when it was launched. Further poking about in the pod's computer system, led Rayek to access audio/visual recordings. From a quick initial glance Rayek determined that they were personal logs of the foreign Commander and his companion. Rayek downloaded these as well.
Rayek had just finished downloading the pod simple navigational map and the specifics of it's emergency transponder signal when he received a call from the Captain to see her in her ready room. Rayek quickly saved the details he had accessed and then opened the pod from the inside to clamber out.
Once exited, he called over the Ops officer working in the cargo bay. He ordered the pod sealed and stored for later investigation if needed. With that attended to Rayek dismissed the security crewman which had been watching over the pod, and then headed to the Captain's Ready Room.
